Best horror movies to watch high
We went down into the crypt, opened the coffin, and summoned some of the best stoner horror films.
Puff, puff; pass! What better to accompany thick smoke than a few killer horror movies, obviously aimed at the diehard smoker? Other than some nachos, a Snickers bar, and your best friends, it’s tough to think of a friendlier companion.
5 Horror Movies To Watch When You’re Stoned
Hansel & Gretel Get Baked (2013)
Okay, so this one is technically a comedy-horror, but we figured we would ease you into being too tripped out. Hansel & Gretel Get Baked is essentially a retelling of the classic fairy. Only instead of luring children into her house with candy, the witch uses a special weed strain of her own design. If nothing else, this film has a moral we can all take to heart: only trust dealers with reliable sources.
It Follows (2014)
You know how weed is an aphrodisiac? Well, this movie will give you pause on that front. It Follows is the carefully crafted horror film you didn’t know you needed. This movie offers everything: psychological terror, incredible cinematography and amazing performances by the actors. The indie horror flick has been a creepy campaign of good buzz since its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
Hush (2016)
Do you get paranoid when you smoke weed? If so, check this out. Your classic home invasion slasher, but with a twist: the protagonist is deaf and mute. Not only does it add layers of suspense but it will have you constantly checking the locks on your windows and doors. Hush is a tense horror film full of things we’ve seen before but can never get enough of. Plus it includes a kickass heroine, a frightening premise, and a creepy stalker in a white mask.
The Shining (1980)
Love it or hate it? Stanley Kubrick’s adaptation of Stephen King’s The Shining is, hands down, one of the most iconic horror movies. And it is amazing to watch when you’re stoned. Focus on the cinematography. When you’re high, the terrifying visuals of this film will squeeze their way into your brain and stay with you. Forever. It is one of the scariest horror movies ever. Why? Because it generates terror and has expert filmmaking technique.
Suspiria (1977)
Okay. If you haven’t ever watched Suspiria, you need to drop whatever you’re doing, spark up a joint and find it online. It’s one of the best horror movies period. And smoking only makes it better. Dario Argento’s twisted tale of a ballet boarding school is deranged and visually stunning, especially when you’re baked. Do yourself a favour and watch it! With its vivid color palette, nightmarish story, and evocative score, Suspiria is a horror classic to not miss. Want more best stoner movies? Follow the link.
