Jack the Ripper strain

Jack the Ripper. Many years ago, in a sleepy London town, this mysterious killer terrorized the city, bringing death and destruction wherever he went. Then, he disappeared into the shadows just as mysteriously as he appeared.

Now, he is back, in… a cannabis strain? While naming a strain after a serial killer seems odd, Jack the Ripper is a great sativa strain that cannabis enthusiasts everywhere can enjoy. In this post, we will pay Jack a visit and see what he has to offer.

Overview of Jack the Ripper

Jack the Ripper is a sativa strain, with a little bit of indica, with energetic effects. Many people think that cannabis makes you lazy or sleepy, or gives you a craving for some canna-munchies, but some strains give you a boost of energy better than an extra sip of an energy drink can. If you’re having a difficult day finding energy at work, difficulty staying focused, or you didn’t get the best sleep last night, Jack the Ripper can help, giving you life instead of, well, killing you.

Just Who Made Jack the Ripper?

TGA Genetics produces the strain, but you can think Subcool for breeding it. Subcool named it that because “it’s an absolutely killer weed.” Of course, killer in the sense that it’s good, not that it can actually kill you, for those who still think Reefer Madness is a thing that’s serious to observe.

The strain originates from another sativa strain, Jack’s Cleaner, and Space Queen. These two are combined to make the strain we are talking about, and boy, was it bred well.

Appearance

The Jack the Ripper strain is greenish, with some sugar leaves that are yellow. You may notice some orange pistils, too. The buds are more dens and come in an oval-shape. If you’re unsure if the strain is Jack the Ripper, talk to your budtender.

What to Expect When Smoking it

This is a strain that gives you energy and focus. It’s not the best strain for insomnia or anxiety, but it’s ideal for depression and general fatigue. When you smoke it, you may find yourself uplifted and feel more positive about yourself. If you’re ever having a depressive episode, smoking this strain can make you feel more motivated. Some good times to consume it include:

  • During a party when you want to get noticed.
  • At work when you’re crashing and need a pick me up.
  • When you didn’t get much sleep last night.
  • When you’re pulling an all nighter.
  • When you need to focus on a project and not get too distracted.
  • When you need a positive boost after a negative day.

This strain does relax you, but in that nerve calming way that still gives you the energy you need to be productive. You’ll feel euphoric, but not overly. Luckily, it doesn’t really cause any jitters, either. It has a moderate amount of THC, so you may want to start small.

What we like about this strain is that it’s the perfect balance. Its 30 percent indica goes a long way to deliver the perfectly balanced strain.

Medical Properties

More people are seeing the benefits of medical cannabis, and Jack definitely has those properties. Some medical ailments Jack the Ripper may be able to treat include:

  • Stress. If you feel overstressed, Jack  can treat that and allow you to work towards eliminating those stressors.
  • Because it allows you to stay focused, Jack is great for those who have ADHD.
  • Chronic pain. Like many strains, Jack may have pain-reliving properties. CBDis good for that too.
  • Lack of appetite. Like many strains, you may experience a stimulated appetite.
  • Chronic fatigue. If you always feel low energy, even if you sleep well and drink caffeine, Jack may be able to help.
  • While not recommended for it, some may find that they can sleep better. After the energetic effects wear off, some may be able to focus more on sleeping instead of being distracted. Again, this will all depend on the person.

Flavor

For some cannabis users, flavor doesn’t really matter. For others, flavor does play a part in their experience. When you smell it, you may notice its citrus scent, and its flavor continues that theme with a lemony, pine taste. It’s a blend of flavors that many will enjoy- we know we did. Instead of being a killer, this Jack is nice and lemony, combining originality in the flavor with a bit of familiarity.

How Does it Feel to Smoke It?

Some strains are a little bit hard to smoke. You may end up coughing a lot, or fail to catch your breath. Jack the Ripper makes sure to be more velvety in its tastes. As soon as you breathe it out, the smoothness complements you quite well. Ah.

What to Look Out for

While Jack the Ripper is a great strain, you should smoke it in small doses until you know what to expect. If you have higher doses, you may experience:

  • Cotton mouth
  • Dry eyes
  • Dehydration
  • Dry eyes
  • Itchy eyes
  • Possible paranoia in higher doses.

Many of these side effects will come from casual smokers. Many veterans know that staying hydrated, using eye drops, and smoking in a place that doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable are a few ways you can relish in the positivity and avoid the negative effects.

Conclusion

We give this strain a thumbs-up. Jack the Ripper is a killer strain, but killer in a way that it slaughters your lack of motivation and guts your lack of focus. It’s a strain that’s worth trying if you’re at your local dispensary.

You may be able to find it in more forms than just buds. Wax, edibles, the list goes on. No matter your preference, Jack the Ripper is a friend that you’ll love to have, and it’ll almost make you forget that a long time ago, Jack the Ripper was a killer of the highest degree. So roll up a joint, listen to music, play a game, or watch a movie, and see what you think.
